1. What distinguishes the SCUSI product from that of others?
The SCUSI range of frames has no equal in the marketplace? It encompasses the most extensive and well thought out range of ready-made wood gallery frames for photographic or art purposes available anywhere in the world. Similar products available from the large retail chains in South Africa are mass produced and very limited in range, colour and quality.  By contrast, we produce our frames according to the time-honored method of small production batches in order to ensure that attention to detail in design, concept, materials and assembly are given every priority. Our aim is to provide you with a complete wallspace solution, not just a frame, and yet, if you want just a frame, you need look no further.

What is a Photo Wall or Wallspace Solution?

These terms have been coined by SCUSI to describe the combination frames we offer, off the shelf. In short it allows you to achieve a complete wall collage with minimal fuss. For your convenience we have combined our frames in various professional configurations that look good and fit together perfectly. All you need to do is decide which of your photographs to display. You will love the visual impact such a personalized Photo Wall will have in your home.

3.
Do you only use wooden frame profiles?

Presently we use wood and aluminium profiles. From an aesthetic point of view metal and wood are simply streets ahead of other material such as extruded plastic mouldings.  A solid wooden frame has natural character and charm that is simply lacking in a piece of plastic. Metal is both contemporary, sleek and exceptionally durable. The trend in the marketplace has been toward synthetic moulding profiles in order to supply the market with cheaper product. Of course, wood as a natural resource needs to be conserved and used responsibly. As a result we feel obliged to produce a fresh contemporary product and wallspace concept, which shows commitment to timeless design and product integrity.

4. What wood are the frames made from?
The predominant timber used in the picture framing industry comes from tropical West Africa and is widely distributed from Guinea to Cameroon. Family: Sterculiaccae, Genus: Triplochiton scleroxylon or more commonly known as Obeche, Samba, Wawa or Ayous depending on the country of origin. It is a softwood with straight longitudinal grain and very few knots and thus ideal as a framing wood. It is harvested by means of selective logging which allows for the long term sustainability of the resource.

At present we supply our wood range in four colours or stains. These being Coffeebean stain, Black (painted), White (painted) and Walnut stain. The finished product sheen is satin. The colour of the matt or mount board used is a white/off-white. The aluminium frames are supplied in Satin Silver and Satin Black.

6.
Why do you no longer supply Loads of Living?

SCUSI supplied Loads of Living for a period of seven years. During this time and many thousands of frames later, not one product was ever returned due to faulty manufacture or bad quality. This speaks volumes for the SCUSI ethos. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who loyally supported our product during this time. As with all manufactured goods a standard of uncompromised quality costs a little more, and in 2008 Loads of Living decided that a cheaper product and the kind of quality that goes hand in hand with it, would be the way forward.
